iFrogz Impulse Wireless Earphones Review

The most popular earphones used on a daily basis are the apple earphones, that come standard with all apple iPhone or iPods. When Apple released the Apple AirPods, basically the normal earphones without the cables, the world went crazy to get them. Shortly after people started to buy AirPods, I saw complaints on social media that they were getting lost as they are small and very easy to lose. Go figure!

I have been looking for a pair of wireless earbuds that don’t get lost so easily. Well that is where the Impulse Wireless Earbuds from iFrogz saved the day.

Design:

The Impulse Wireless Earbuds consist of a wireless clip with a volume rocker, a play/pause button and a microphone. Connected to the wireless clip are 2 cables with an earbud on each cable. The wireless clip easily connects to your shirt using a built in magnet. The clip has a hard plastic finish to it and feels very well made. The earbuds have aluminium acoustic chambers and feel very polished to the touch. You have the choice of either a white or black pair.

I bet you are thinking: But these earbuds are meant to be wireless?! Why are there cables for the earbuds? The answer to this is very simple, so you don’t lose the earbuds. The setup actually works pretty well. When not in use, you simply wrap the earbuds around the wireless clip for easy storage. You can also just let the earbuds hang or place them under your shirt, which is what I do.

Audio Experience:

The earbuds are made up of 11mm neodymium drivers. This high quality driver reflects sound off an internal chamber to deliver sound with accurate tonal balance, even dispersion, natural clarity and a rich dynamic range. This gives a superior and enjoyable listening experience.

Don’t be fooled by the small size of the earbuds. The sound is rich, clear and the bass is really good. Outside noise is blocked out (works best with the noise isolating ear tips) and the music is kept in, so you don’t bother others with your music.

Connectivity:

Connecting the earbuds to your phone is really simple. The first time you use the earbuds, you simply turn them on by holding in the play button and then search for the earbuds using Bluetooth. Once paired, the earbuds will automatically pair and connect the next time you use them. Once connected you can move a few meters away from your phone and still listen to music. I find that through a wall, you will find the signal comes and goes. This is totally normal for any Bluetooth device. The earbuds will work with any device that supports Bluetooth.

Usage:

I have been using the Impulse Wireless Earbuds whist walking, running and cycling. They are comfortable to wear, very light and stay in my ear no matter how much I shake my head. You don’t have to worry about moisture getting in as they are sweat resistant, with an IPX-2 rating, which means you are protected from dripping water for about 10 minutes.

You can also answer calls while on the go, which is great when you are out and about and an important call comes through!

Battery:

With an internal battery that gives up to 10 hours of battery life, you should be able to use the earbuds throughout your day. To charge the battery, you simply plug a micro USB cable into the wireless clip and the other end into a USB port on your PC, laptop, power bank or charging brick. Charging takes about an hour.

What is in the box:

Included with the Impulse Wireless Earbuds, you get a micro USB cable, noise isolating ear tips and regular ear tips, in different sizes.

Price:

So, how does the price of the Impulse Wireless Earbuds compare to the Apple AirPods? The AirPods sell for R2799 whilst the Impulse Wireless Earbuds only sells for R589. I have never heard how the AirPods sound, so it would be unfair to compare the two.

The verdict:

The audio experience of the Impulse Wireless Earbuds is very good and on par with what I have heard from premium earphones that I own. You may forget that you are listening to music from earbuds and not full size headphones. I love the fact that the earbuds fold up into a tiny package for easy carrying. So if you are looking for a pair of wireless earbuds, that is much harder to lose, you should consider getting a pair of Impulse Wireless Earbuds made by iFrogz.
