Gaming is an expensive hobby mostly because all the good stuff you need to game, usually comes at a price. I have actually never owned a pair of gaming headphones before, mainly because I couldn’t choose a pair in my budget. This was the case until I picked up a pair of gaming headphones from 1MORE to review. 1MORE is a Chinese company that is available in over 27 countries/regions and has recently entered the South African market thanks to Syntech. 1MORE Africa sent me over a pair of gaming headphones called the H1005 Spearhead VR 7.1 to review. Let’s see if these are worthy enough for gamers!

Design:

Picking up the headphones, it is clear that 1MORE has spent some serious time at the drawing board creating a well-designed pair of headphones.

They do look like gaming headphones but they are sleek enough to blend into any environment. The headphones are made of plastic with a stainless steel chassis, but I found them very durable. Besides for its looks, the headphones are really comfortable to wear as well. The headband is adjustable for different sizes and is also cushioned to give you a comfortable fit.
The over-ear ear cushions are covered in a soft fabric and are super comfy. Thanks to their 360-degree rotating design, they can move to improve ventilation for long hours of gaming.
The Microphone is extendable, so when not in use it is hidden. Though, when extended it is lit up and looks awesome!
To add to this there is RGB lighting on the headphones. You will find that the logo, the ring on the earpiece and the microphone bar all light up. You can control the colours via the 1MORE software on your computer. There are loads of colours and modes to choose from, here are some of the colours:
On the left headpiece, you will find a switch to the turn the microphone on and off, a volume and bass control, a micro USB port and lastly an AUX port.

Connection:

You have two options to connect the headphones to your device. This is done with either a Micro USB cable or an AUX cable, which is connected to the right headpiece. The RGB LED lighting functions when using the Micro USB cable but not when using the 3.5 mm AUX cable. If you want to use the USB cable on your phone, you can always get a USB converter to do so. I found that the USB cable gives better sound than the AUX cable. This is because the AUX is best suited for consoles. So for phones and computers, it is best to use the Micro USB cable.

Sound Quality:

So the headphones look great, but how do they sound? Thanks to the 50mm maglev graphene drivers which utilize 7.1 channel surround sound, Super Bass and VR Shock Wave software, you are immersed into an experience like no other. Rich tones, deep bass, a surround sound experience, I was impressed and I wasn’t the only one. I let three of my colleagues at the office all try out the headphones. Each of them are heavy games, love good sounds and wear headphones the whole day at the office. They were all really impressed (like me) with the sound quality and the overall look and feel of the headphones!

To provide the best gaming microphone, the headphones make use of a dual-microphone to filter out background noise. To do this, the H1005 Spearhead headphones use Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) technology to filter out this noise. This noise cancellation feature works really well, when gaming and even in the office!

Price

You get all of this for only R1899! Yes, you read that right. Usually, a good pair of gaming headphones will set you back around R3000. Even just a good pair of headphones will cost around R2000 to R3000. Since these headphones can be used for both purposes, you really are getting a bargain. I also love that you get the carry bag to keep the headphones protected on the move!

Verdict

Overall 1MORE has created a pair of gaming headphones that are super comfortable to wear as well as provide great sound. They are perfect for music, movies, YouTube as well as their main purpose, gaming! They are also really affordable. I am really impressed with the 1MORE Gaming H1005 Spearhead headphones.
