Charged Power - Power Bank Review - Cape Town Guy

My power bank is the first item that goes into my bag on a day out. I know that at some point during the day I am going to need to give my phone some juice so I am always prepared. Also with Cape Town’s load-shedding, it is vital to have power banks on hand!

The issue with power banks though is that they are big, bulky and boring. Usually, it is not something I want to show off… Charged Power got in touch with me to prove me wrong with their unique power banks which come in some funky designs.

The Design:

Charged Power have created Power Banks that are no longer boring as they come with cool artwork on them. They sent me two to look at from their wide range of designs. The first has a PUG printed on it and the second has a boarding pass on.

The body of the power bank is made from a hard robust plastic while the design is printed on, so it won’t peel off. On the side of the power bank, you get a power button, led battery level indicator, USB port and a Micro USB port for charging the power bank.

Besides for the design, these power banks are also really small and light making them great to travel with. They are also the perfect size for holding them or slipping them in your pocket while your phone is charging. This is a major factor when it comes to power banks for me.

I took the boarding pass power bank on a trip to Johannesburg and I had a few people ask me about my power bank. So it is not only well designed but an awesome conversation starter!

What is in the box:

With each power bank, you get a Quick Guide, a Micro USB Cable and one power bank came with an iPhone adapter, which I won’t be needing 😉 (Still a nice addition though)

Performance:

The PUG has a 10000mAh capacity while the boarding pass has 5000mAh capacity. Both power banks feature two fast chargers to allow you to charge your phone quickly but this does depend on your phone as well. I plugged in my Samsung Galaxy S10+ into both power banks to see how long it would take to charge my phone. At a low percentage of 27%, my phone estimated that a full charge would take 2 hours and 10 minutes while at 38%, it said just over 1 hour and 30 minutes till a full charge. Not bad at all!

It takes about 2 hours to charge the 5000mAh and about 4 hours to charge the 10000mAh. Each power bank should be able to charge a phone at least 2 to 4 times respectively.

The Price:

The 10000mAh is selling on chargedpower.co.za R399 while the 5000mAh is selling for R299.

The Verdict:

Overall I found the charging performance of the power banks satisfactory. While you do get power banks that offer more charging ports, the main reason to get these power banks is for their cool art. So if you are looking for a power bank that is not bland, then check out what Charged Power has to offer!
