How South Africa plans to combat the COVID-19 / Coronavirus:

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed South Africa as to how we plan to combat COVID-19 AKA Coronavirus in SA. At the time of writing this, there are 61 cases in South Africa. The following is what is being implemented to save South Africa from becoming like Italy:

  • Limit contact between persons.
  • Travel ban on foreign nationals from high-risk countries.
  • Cancelled visas from high-risk countries.
  • SA citizens to not travel to high-risk counties.
  • Testing & quarantine to be improved.
  • All travellers need to go for testing.
  • Strengthen scanning at airports.
  • 35 ports into South Africa to be closed.
  • 2 of 8 seaports to be closed.
  • All non-essential Government travel cancelled.
  • Non-essential domestic-travel not recommended.
  • Limited contact with people.
  • Gatherings of more than 100 people are prohibited.
  • Schools to be closed from Wednesday to after Easter weekend.
  • All businesses to take necessary measures.
  • Shopping malls and entertainment centres to improve hygiene control.
  • Government to strengthen surveillance systems.
  • Monitor all those infected by Coronavirus.
  • Promote good hygiene behaviour through a campaign.
  • Limit contact, no handshaking.
  • Funding to be made available to assist with sectors responding to Coronavirus.
  • Government to work on a package to assist businesses that have lost out.
  • Healthcare to be provided to anyone who needs it.
  • The government advises us to not panic and share fake news.
