A big part of our life is managing our home, and this requires a lot of work. By now, I am sure you know about Robot Vacuum Cleaners, and how they move around our homes picking up dust, dirt and other bits and bobs that shouldn’t be on our floors. There are loads of Smart Robot Vacuum Cleaners to choose from and sometimes it is hard to make that choice. I have tested out one robot vacuum cleaner so far, but that has given me a fair amount of knowledge as to what you should be looking out for when choosing one for yourself. In this article, I am taking a look at the Hobot LEGEE-Q10 Robot Vacuum Cleaner & Mop, which has been launched in South Africa by Solenco, a trusted leader in premium lifestyle technology, who are the exclusive distributor of the Q10 in South Africa. Let’s start by covering the basics, then unboxing the robot vacuum, setting it up and taking it for a spin!
The basics:
The Hobot LEGEE-Q10 is one of Hobot’s latest robot vacuum cleaners that has been redesigned to offer all the advanced tech that one finds in Hobot’s premium models, but at a more competitive price. The LEGEE-Q10 brings new generation technology to a broader market, making smarter cleaning and serious convenience that much more accessible. The range of Hobot LEGEE vacuum cleaners has been continuously evolving and innovating to offer consumers the best cleaning experience from a robot vacuum.
The Hobot LEGEE-Q10 Robot Vacuum Cleaner is a smart robot vacuum cleaner that is capable of picking up dirt, dust, pet hair and cleaning stains from all types of floors, such as tiled floors, laminate flooring and carpets. It does this thanks to its Powerful 5000Pa Suction System. The LEGEE-Q10 can also keep your floors clean and spotless thanks to its advanced HSSPL™ mopping technology, which combines high-speed scrubbing with the right amount of liquid dispensing to keep your floors spotless! The mop delivers 900 strokes per minute, which mimics mopping done by hand, for effortless cleaning. You get the same advanced and patented mopping technology of the premium Hobot LEGEE D7 and D8 models, combining high speed scrubbing and precise liquid dispensing that defines the spotless results of the Hobot LEGEE range of vacuum cleaners. You can choose between six versatile cleaning modes (Standard, Power Suction, Eco, Polish, Dry, Tangless) to tackle anything from deep cleaning to spot cleaning. If you are cleaning up after your pets, the Tangle-Free Suction Design ensures that hair does not get stuck in the suction motor and clog it up.
The LEGEE-Q10 is able to clean corners and under cabinets thanks to its Corner Killer Flexible Side Brush. This brush has seven adjustable gears and is capable of extending 30mm for precise cleaning.
The LEGEE-Q10 offers a 4-in-1 cleaning system, allowing the vacuum to clean with the front suction, sweep with the deep-cleaning brush roll, spray water, and reciprocate a mop, all at the same time! This makes it ideal for pet owners as pet hair and dander are effectively swept up.
To navigate your home, LiDAR Navigation is used, instead of a camera, to create a map of your home to ensure that every corner is cleaned. This lets you easily create a smart map of your home at the touch of a button. The navigation system lets the robot vacuum move around furniture and obstacles, and with slam naviation, it will always know where it is in your home. It is also able to easily transition between carpets and tiled floors thanks to its auto mop lift technology. To avoid getting stuck on rugs and carpets, it has 2cm of obstacle climbing ability to easily move between rooms with different types of flooring.
The LEGEE-Q10 also has a large dustbin of 400ml and a 300ml water tank, to ensure that you can clean your home without needing to be around to empty the bin/tank!
The robot vacuum is all controllable via a smartphone app, where you can manage cleaning schedules and modes, create maps and check the status of the vacuum cleaner, so that you can clean no matter where you are! In the app you can also check the cleaning log to see which cleaning schedules have taken place and what areas they cleaned.
Unboxing the LEGEE-Q10:
The LEGEE-Q10 comes packaged in a cardboard box with important product info displayed around the box. Opening the box, you are greeted by the User Manual and the quick start guide. Removing the cardboard insert, you can then access the mop cloth, water bottle, charging station, plug, spare high efficiency filter, corner killer side brushes, and the LEGEE-Q10 itself. Once all of these items are removed, we can take a look at the robot vacuum.
The LEGEE-Q10 adopts the style of many other vacuum cleaners, featuring a round body that comes in white. On the top of the vacuum you will find some physical controls, even though you will mostly be operating the vacuum via the smartphone app. I guess it is nice to have these buttons should you quickly need to pause a clean and send the vacuum back to the charging station. There is also a liftable flap on the top which houses the removable dustbin, water tank and a cleaning tool that has a brush and blade to remove anything caught in the brush. Lastly, there is the power switch to power on the unit.
Then you get the sensors on top of the unit as well as the LiDAR Navigation on the side and a bumper on the front. Underneath the LEGEE-Q10 is where you find all the tech to keep your home clean. There are two large wheels with a smaller front steering wheel. There is a large rotating brush, the Corner Killer Flexible Side Brush, the suction ports, liquid dispenser and the large mop cloth.
Setting up the LEGEE-Q10:
To get started, you simply download the HOBOT LEGEE app, create an account and search for your robot vacuum. Once your vacuum is paired to the app, you can start by creating a map of your home. Once you have a map, you can then modify the map by creating zones, adding areas you don’t want to clean, setting which rooms have carpets, splitting the map or renaming it.
How does it perform:
Once your home is mapped out, you are ready to clean, which is as simple as choosing to clean the whole map area, a specific room or area, then choosing the cleaning mode and hitting the start button. You have the choice of 6 modes, each configured for different types of flooring and cleaning styles. You get the following cleaning modes: Standard, Power Suction, Eco, Polish, Dry, Tangless. You can also choose the remote mode, should you want to pause the clean and take control.
I tested out the Dry mode on my carpet to pick up some pieces of paper, and the LEGEE-Q10 did a great job at picking it up. I then also tested out the Polish mode, which increases water spray and mopping, to mop up some cream that had “fallen” on the tiles, in an exact area on the map. The tiles were left spotless!
I did a manual clean and mop using the remote mode to shine up an area of tiling which left the tiles looking nice and shiny!
The LEGEE-Q10 does a great job at navigating around obstacles. Having a dog, I have items around the home which are never left in the same place. The Q10 was able to push a plastic dog bowl out of the way and also climb over a snuffle map. Impressive right! Other more permanent items like a couch or desk, it simply navigates around.
Maintenance:
The whole point of robot vacuums is to keep your home clean without requiring you to do the work. With the LEGEE-Q10, all you will need to do is empty the dustbin, top up the water, and wash the mop cloth if it is dirty.
Battery life:
Out of the box, the LEGEE-Q10 will need to be charged for roughly 6 hours before use. Once fully charged, you can get around 150 minutes of use. Once a cleaning cycle is done, the LEGEE-Q10 will return to the charging station to charge before the next clean is scheduled. You are able to check the battery life in the app.

Verdict:
The LEGEE-Q10 offers a robot vacuum cleaner with all the essential features needed, at a competitive price point. The app is straightforward, easy to use and lets you easily manage the Q10. The vacuum has a premium look and feel to it and with its 6 cleaning modes and 4-in-1 cleaning system, it really does a great job at cleaning up! Overall, the LEGEE-Q10 is a great option for those looking for a robot vacuum cleaner for the home or office!
