Five Excuses to Have Food Delivered!

Having food delivered to your home can make one feel guilty. South Africans are lucky enough to have a wide range of food delivery options available to them at their fingertips, whether it’s chatting to their favourite local pizza guy who knows what they’ll order as soon as he answers their call, or whether it’s their ability to try something new and exciting via a food delivery app.

And while having food delivered is still a treat and a convenience, there are times in our busy lives when it just makes sense to have your meal delivered to your door!

“Food delivery services like Bolt Food make a world of feasts and flavours so easily accessible to South Africans,”  says Tafadzwa Samushonga, Bolt Food Country Manager in South Africa. “Our delivery service are available in Cape Town and Johannesburg, having expanded recently to Midrand, Bedfordview, and surrounding areas.”

If you were on the proverbial fence about whether or not to order a food delivery, some perfect scenarios to do so include:

During load shedding

The ‘L’ word is a particularly touchy subject among South Africans, particularly those who don’t have the means to cook if there’s no electricity. Save yourself the frustration of planning cooking and meal times around the ever-shifting load shedding schedule, and order your supper to be delivered to your door, when you need it.

Kids lax about lunch?

As you settle at your desk to kick-start your day at work , you get that dreaded message: ‘Mom (or Dad!), I left my lunch at home! There’s no way your children should go hungry over a long school day, so, if their school permits it, you could have food delivered to them at break time. Not only will they have a full tummy, they’ll be the envy of their friends.

Cook’s night off

While we all picture ourselves as being up for the everyday Masterchef challenge, planning nutritious meals and taking the time to prepare them can become an onerous task. Spice the weekly family up a little by randomly choosing one night to have food delivered for supper – don’t even ask everyone what they want, just surprise them when they’re wondering why there are no extensive meal preparations in the kitchen.

Dare to have a date night

Getting glammed up to go out for a date with your significant other is so much fun – but sometimes there’s also appeal in doing date night at home… or anywhere you’d like to, really! Order in a treat meal to eat at home where you’re most relaxed and comfortable, or pick a surprise date destination, far from the restaurant crowds, and share a romantic picnic, delivered to wherever you choose to be!

Friday night treats

Times are tough and budgets are under pressure – but there’s nothing to lift the mood quite like a surprise treat. There’s no better day to celebrate surprises than a Friday – the end of the week – so let everyone in the family take turns ordering the Friday night meal for delivery. That way, everyone will get to choose their favourite – and everyone else will get to try something new!

“The Bolt Food app is available on the Android and iOS app stores, with restaurant and delivery partners ready to serve South Africans’ favourite food to them – wherever they may be, and without even needing a great excuse to do so,” Samushonga adds. “With everything from franchise favourites to exclusive eateries listed on the app, everyone is sure to find something they’ll enjoy.”
