The Ultimate Screen for Multitasking: Samsung CJ89 – 49 Inch Supersize Monitor

More and more people are choosing a multiple monitor system to increase productivity. However, this type of setup doesn’t come without disadvantages. These include differences in height and colour between the monitors, and bezels that sever the continuity of screen information. Not to mention the longer system setting times and complex array of connections.

This year, Samsung Electronics introduced the CJ89 Monitor in both 43 and 49-inch sizes. The 49-inch is already available in South Africa with an RRP of R 20 000. The 43-inch will be available from the end of September with an RRP of R23 000.

With a screen size equivalent to dual 27-inch monitors, workspace on the on the super ultra-wide 49-inch monitor is optimised far better than a multiple monitor system. Samsung introduced a gaming monitor of the same size last year, the CHG90, however the CJ89 has more powerful and optimal functions for business environments, such as a built-in KVM switch, USB-Type C ports, and built-in stereo speakers.

Justin Hume, Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung South Africa, says, “The viewing experience is effortless with the 32:9 Super Ultra-Widescreen.”

The diagonal length of the 49-inch curved screen with an aspect ratio of 32:9 is a whopping 124cm. Because of the design of the screen, you don’t have to move your head from side to side to take everything in as you would with dual screens. The secret is the 1,800R curvature of the display with a radius of 1,800mm. The monitor is shaped to match the natural shape of the human eye, so the viewing experience is more comfortable with less eye strain.

The CJ89’s wide screen is very convenient to view a complex set of data at the same time. The standard aspect ratio for an office monitor is 16:9, which shows about 26 columns in Microsoft Excel. But the CJ89 showed about 52 columns, so horizontal scrolling isn’t required. The size of the screen means you can arrange two or three full-sized windows on the same screen, so  you don’t have to keep switching between windows either.

“The monitor provides a far more convenient work environment, not only for graphics work that compares and edits multiple images or videos, but also for general office work that requires web searching while writing documents or analysing various data points at the same time,” adds Hume.

The CJ89 has a built-in KVM switch, allowing easy manoeuvring of two neat features called ‘Picture-In-Picture (PIP) mode,’ which enables users to display multiple applications on the big screen, and ‘Picture-By-Picture (PBP) mode’ which transforms one monitor into dual monitors. You can select the device to be displayed on the divided screen and adjust it with one button.

When connecting the CJ89 to a desktop computer, a laptop or a Samsung Dex station, it becomes more than just a big screen. Especially when connecting a smartphone to the CJ89 using a Dex Station. The user interface optimised for the desktop environment feels just like you’re using a PC.

The CJ89 can be divided into either two 16:9 screens, or 21:9 and 11:9 screens. With Samsung’s Easy Setting Box software, you can choose from a variety of layouts when viewing multiple Internet windows and documents. Arranging multiple windows automatically is a breeze, as it can be done with a single click.

The CJ89 has USB Type-C ports, which is more convenient to use than its predecessors. A USB Type-C connector simultaneously delivers electric power, data, and display signal between devices.

The CJ89 not only provides a better business environment, but also a better gaming experience. Gamers can enjoy an immersive experience with the monitor’s crisp 3,840×1,080 high resolution and super ultra-wide screen. The CJ89 provides 144 Hz refresh rate, which is well-suited for gaming purposes. A refresh rate means how many frames a monitor can display in a second. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the movement of the objects on the screen. The refresh rate of most monitors is 60 Hz, meaning they show 60 frames in a second. On the other hand, the CJ89 shows 144 frames in a second, so the movement of the characters and the change between the scenes are buttery smooth.

It supports 144Hz refresh rate on both windows of the screen, which makes it ideal for enjoying games with friends and family, or playing games while also watching a gaming video on YouTube or reading tips on an online forum. The CJ89 has built-in speakers, so you can enjoy a profound sound for gaming or watching videos with its 7-watt dual speakers, without the need for additional sound.

If you want to excel in both work and leisure, the CJ89’s capabilities will help you to become a true multiplayer.
