After a successful inaugural partnership in 2016, Subaru Pietermaritzburg will once again be the Vehicle partner to the Midmar Mile.
The Midmar Mile is a proudly South African open water swimming event that takes place at the Midmar Dam in the small Kwazulu-Natal town of Howick, just outside Pietermaritzburg. In 2017, the race weekend will be held from 11 – 12 February.
Recognised by the Guinness Book of Records, the Midmar Mile is the largest open water swimming race in the world, drawing a multitude of swimmers to take part, from international swimming professionals and Olympic medalists to regular, recreational swimmers and their families, all daring their sense of fun, adventure and challenge.
Beyond the challenge however, and at the heart of Midmar is the support and upliftment of those in need. There are a number of fundraising initiatives that take place at Midmar with proceeds from the race being used to promote the sport of swimming in South Africa, in drowning-prevention initiatives and other charitable causes.
It is in this spirit of adventure, safety and performance that Subaru Pietermaritzburg has once again partnered with the Midmar Mile as the official Race Vehicle.
The sponsorship of the Midmar Mile by the Subaru dealership in Pietermaritzburg is supported by Subaru Southern Africa Head Office. Also an official vehicle partner to the South African Hall of Fame now open at Sun City, this partnership continues Subaru’s corporate commitment to supporting South African Sport. In addition to the Midmar Mile, Subaru Pietermaritzburg has historically also supported the Sani2C, Berg & Bush and Joburg2C MTB races.
