Johannesburg, 9 FEBRUARY 2017 – Subaru Southern Africa has been confirmed as the official vehicle partner to The Voice SA Season II. The Voice SA has historically been a huge success for M-Net Channel 101.
The Voice SA Season 1 winner Richard Stirton has already topped the iTunes charts three times – with the songs he performed at the semi-finals and finals, as well as the single he released with Universal Music as part of his prize package. He was also voted number one when TALPA, the company that produces the show around the globe, pitted the most recent winners from 23 countries against each other in an online poll.
John de Mol, creator of Big Brother, first created The Voice concept with Dutch singer Roel van Velzen. The show distinguishes itself as different from The X Factor and Idols as The Voice primarily focuses on singing ability and prowess of an “artist” alone.
This sponsorship is set to increase consumer awareness of the Subaru brand and its award-winning products to a key market segment. As hundreds of thousands of fans tune in to watch The Voice SA every week (on M-Net Channel 101 & M-Net City Channel 115), they will have an opportunity to engage with the brand in more ways than ever before through a combination of TV and digital channels.
For the Subaru SA brand, this sponsorship is the first of its kind and an important step in celebrating what 2017 has in store for South African consumers from the Japanese brand. Ashley Lazarus, Marketing Manager for Subaru considers this a significant marketing opportunity. “We have a host of new products and technology being launched through the year and this sponsorship gives us huge leverage to showcase these to South Africa.”
Bronwyn Hilhorst, Project Manager: M-Net original productions, says “For M-Net, it was important to partner with a brand with similar values to The Voice. The Voice is about talent and nothing else. The contestants are from all walks of life and no matter what their background is; it’s their voice and talent that counts. This is what makes the show so endearing to such a large audience. In Subaru, we see a brand that is equally as focused, speaks to family values and offers great peace of mind – so this sponsorship just made sense.”
The Voice SA Season II airs on M-Net Channel 101 on Sundays at 17:30 with repeat shows on Tuesdays at 14h00, Saturdays at 15h00 and Sundays at 11h05. The show will also be broadcast on M-Net City Channel 115 on the following Saturday at 18h00.
