A fleet of Rugby World Cup 2019-branded Land Rover Discoverys together with the one-of-a-kind Springboks-liveried Range Rover Sport SVR revealed earlier this year, will join a convoy around the country, visiting seven major locations along the way.

The planned RWC 2019 Champions Trophy Tour stops are as follows:

  • Thursday, 7 November: Pretoria, Johannesburg and Soweto
  • Friday, 8 November: Durban
  • Saturday, 9 November: East London
  • Sunday, 10 November: Port Elizabeth
  • Monday, 11 November: Cape Town

As the Official Vehicle of Rugby World Cup 2019, Land Rover played a functional role to the tournament organisers providing a fleet of hundreds of cars to Japan Rugby 2019 and World Rugby to help facilitate one of the world’s biggest sporting events. Land Rover is proud to have a long-standing, 20-year heritage and commitment to rugby at all levels and has been a sponsor of Rugby World Cup since 2011.

Land Rover first signed a vehicle partnership with the Springboks in 2017, and has also supported Captain Siya Kolisi as a brand Ambassador since 2013.

“Winning Rugby World Cup 2019 has brought South Africa together in a way I’ve never seen before,” says Siya Kolisi. “Now that the team is home, we look forward to sharing even more memories with fans all over the country.”

“Land Rover supports global rugby on every level,” says Lisa Mallett, Marketing Director Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “Here at home, we have been involved with local unions, clubs and rural schools to support rugby at its grassroots. Land Rover’s support of the Springboks, both on and off the field, is shared by our common values of determination and inner-strength.”

Tina Pienaar-Smith, Sponsorship and PR Specialist, Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa, concludes: “We are so extremely proud of our national team, and look forward to developing even more legends in the future. Land Rover shares the same determination, passion and tenacity as the Springboks and the capability and composure our vehicles offer is mirrored by the players who put their heart and soul into what they do on the field.”

In April Land Rover South Africa revealed a custom Range Rover Sport SVR built specially as a tribute to the Springboks rugby team. The vehicle was developed in partnership with the South African Rugby Union (SARU) and Land Rover’s counterparts in the UK at Special Vehicle Operations, and is the only car in the world to be completely finished in the Springbok’s very specific green colour.

The exact Pantone colour match was applied to the Range Rover’s bare shell at the very start of its build process at SV’s dedicated paint facility in the UK, while Springbok logos and bespoke yellow brake calipers finish off the exterior’s visual enhancements. The Springbok Range Rover represents a heartfelt acknowledgment of Land Rover South Africa’s relationship with the Springboks and an appreciation of the partnership.
