Vehicle tyres, like patience, wear out and when they do replacing them can be a budget-bending exercise. The goal of course is to get the maximum advertised mileage from your tyres before you have to replace them, and there’s no better way to make sure that happens than to take advantage of the new Yokohama Mileage Warranty, now available from Tiger Wheel & Tyre, countrywide.
The warranty is free and available to Tiger Wheel & Tyre customers who purchase any two or more tyres from four different models in Yokohama’s environmentally friendly BluEarth series. This includes the AE01 and AE050 passenger tyres, whose mileage is warrantied to 70 000km, and the Geolandar G055 and G066 4×4 tyres, whose mileage is warrantied to 100 000km.
How it Works
Each tyre model is guaranteed to reach a specified mileage, within a period of five years from the date of purchase, and if it doesn’t Yokohama will step up with a credit based on the remaining tread percentage. This credit will automatically be applied towards the customer’s purchase of the same or similar replacement Yokohama tyres at Tiger Wheel & Tyre.
For example, if the tyre is warrantied for 100 000km but only achieves 60 000km, or 60% of the warrantied mileage in a five-year period, the credit towards a new tyre will amount to 40% of the cost of the new tyre. So, if the replacement tyre costs R1 000, the customer will get a R400 credit towards that cost.
To ensure their claim is valid, customers must keep their original invoice and properly maintain their tyres to prevent uneven or premature wear, and keep records and invoices for this maintenance, which includes rotating, balancing and setting the alignment of tyres every 8 000 to 10 000 kms at a Yokohama preferred tyre dealer.
