It is not uncommon for brands to get in touch and offer me products to review but how I received the Mercku M2 Hive Wireless Wi-Fi System is a little bit different. My cousin works at Mercku and hit me up one day and was like “Hey, haven’t seen you in forever but want to try out our Mercku Hive Wireless Wi-Fi system?”. After giving it some thought, I decided to check out what this product is.
What is it?
The Mercku M2 Hive Wireless Wi-Fi System is made up of the M2 standalone “Queen” router and 4 Bee Mesh Nodes and its purpose is to increase the range of your Wi-Fi network.
How does it work?
Starting with the Queen router, you either connect your network cable straight to the Queen Router or you can attach the Queen Router directly to your current router. This is the best option for a plug and play setup. The 4 nodes are placed around your home and connect over Wi-FI to the Queen Router.
This allows you to create a wider area of Wi-Fi coverage. Your wireless devices connect to either the router or the nodes, for a strong Wi-Fi signal and coverage around your home!
The App:
The Mercku app is one of the best that I have seen and really allows you to take control of your network. The app is used to add Nodes, check Wi-Fi Speeds, see devices connected, configure settings, change passwords, blacklist devices, allow guests to connect to the guest wifi and upgrade the firmware.
Does it make my Wi-Fi Faster?
So I decided to do a speed test. I have 200 Mbps Fibre (download & upload) – Lightspeed from Cybersmart.
When connected via Wi-Fi to my standard router, standing right next to it, I got the following speeds on my Samsung Galaxy S10+

But when I connected to the Mercku M2 “Queen” router over Wi-Fi, standing right next to it, my speeds skyrocketed. The M2 can handle speeds up to 720 Mbps about double the speed than the average network speed.

Regarding speed, this is a no brainer. My internet over Wi-Fi is now more than triple the speed than when connected to my normal router.
Does it make my Wi-Fi Stronger?
From my tests above, I found that areas far from my router that have multiple concrete walls now have much stronger signal than before.
Price?
So this system is not currently available in South Africa. Should @MerckuWIFI bring it here? #Mercku #MerckuM2

Verdict:
So, what is the verdict? With the M2 Hive Wi-Fi system, my Wi-Fi speeds and signal strength increased and this means that the system is doing its job. I’ll be continuing to use the Mercku M2 Hive Wireless Wi-Fi System at home.
Well done Mercku!
