STUTTGART –  The involvement of Mercedes-Benz in to this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is already starting in advance of the event. Ten selected participants of the globally successful Daimler hackathon series “DigitalLife Campus” will travel from Stuttgart to Barcelona on a specially equipped tour bus.

Their challenge on the maiden voyage with the DigitalLife bus: programming a driverless RoboCab made from Lego components. Under a playful scenario, the self-driving robot taxi is supposed to pick up fares along a route and drop them off at a desired location. The tour bus will set off from Stuttgart on Saturday and, with a stop in France along the way, will take the international participants from the USA, China, India and Germany to Barcelona in time for the start of the MWC. Starting on Saturday, impressions from the bus can be followed on social media via hashtag #MBMWC17.

CASE. That stands for Connectivity, Autonomous, Shared & Service and Electric Drive. With it, CASE combines the future topics towards which the exhibits and presentations on the Mercedes-Benz trade fair stand for the Mobile World Congress also. From 27 February to 2 March, each day interested visitors will have the opportunity to experience the latest developments from the fields of connectivity, autonomous driving, flexible usage models, and electric powertrains.

In addition to the introduction of new topics such as the virtual vehicle presentation, the trade fair stand and its DigitalLife Café is also a place of encounter with the visitors.

Another highlight: Inspiration Talks live on the Mercedes-Benz trade fair stand. They offer visitors the opportunity to talk with experts about the Daimler digitization strategy, culture of innovation, and digital services from passenger cars to commercial vehicles.

The talks are held three times a day. The 10 creative minds of the current Hack-on-Bus Tour will also present their results. This will bring the hackathon series “DigitalLife Campus 2016” to its conclusion. Inspiring and unconventional formats such as hackathons accompany Daimler on its journey of digital transformation.
