The KIA Sedona has been recognised by PARENTS magazine as one the “Best Family Cars of 2020”. For the second year in a row, PARENTS editors and experts praised the family hauler, which is sold as the KIA Grand Sedona in some markets, for delivering on value, safety features, convenience and other family-friendly attributes.
PARENTS narrowed the field of more than 50 contenders by choosing the minivans (MPVs) and SUVs that passed government safety tests with excellent results. In this instance, only vehicles with a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) were considered, a feat the Grand Sedona has held for the past four years.
Thereafter, Abbie Patterson, a child passenger safety technician and owner of the consulting company Super Car Seat Geek, installed multiple car seats in each vehicle – specifically, an average-size infant seat, convertible seat, harnessed booster, and backless booster. Ultimately, the Grand Sedona was rated highly in this category as well, offering multiple seating configurations (in the U.S.A.) and therefore multiple car seat options.
Only those cars that passed this test were evaluated by auto expert, Rob Stumpf, on performance, driving features and more and, again, the Grand Sedona performed with aplomb. In particular, its car-like steering and the ease of parking was called out, as was the smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.
