I just landed in Johannesburg for the HONOR 400 and 400 Pro launch event, and to my surprise, a stylish HONOR-branded bag was already waiting for me in the hotel room. At first, I thought someone had forgotten their luggage, but then I spotted the branding and realised it was a gift from HONOR. Inside the sleek travel-friendly bag, I found some thoughtfully curated goodies: a HONOR-branded phone holder, a handy canvas tote, and a sleek thermal jug — all nicely packaged and well suited for both daily use and travel.

The Launch Event Experience
Later that day, the official launch of the HONOR 400 and 400 Pro took off with high energy, music, and a packed venue. We got a first-hand look at the new lineup and its features. The crowd buzzed with excitement, especially around the 400 Pro’s standout capability — AI photo upscaling. A quick demo showed how an old 1980s photograph could be transformed into a vibrant, modern-looking image using the phone’s built-in AI features. It was as if the photo had just been taken over the weekend — impressive and user-friendly.
Another highlight was HONOR’s emphasis on privacy and security. We learned how features like Deepfake Detection can help protect users from spoofing and unauthorised access. Even if someone tried to use a video or photo to impersonate the owner, the phone would be able to detect the fraud and block the login attempt. That’s a bold step forward in digital safety.
Exploring Parallel Space & Magic Portal
HONOR also introduced us to the Parallel Space feature — a dual phone system in one device. Users can securely switch between two separate “phones” with different passwords and different galleries, making it ideal for keeping personal and work lives apart.
And then came the Magic Portal — one of the most innovative and fun tools of the day. This drag-and-drop feature allows you to take text, images, or links and instantly share them across apps, whether it’s Maps, Gmail, or shopping sites. A simple example? A friend sends you an address via WhatsApp — just drag it to Maps and you’re instantly navigating there.
