How the Ford racing team prepares for the challenges of Le Mans this weekend

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing drivers will be competing at the Le Mans 24 Hours race this weekend(17-18 June). The Ford GT can drive up to three hours at a time, which has huge physical and mental demands.

Many people believe racing drivers don’t train. Like any elite athlete though, drivers have to in order to withstand the physical demands of endurance racing. And some of what they do is very specific. Hours of sauna-like heat, cornering g-forces akin to riding a roller coaster for three hours and knowing that one false move could spell disaster. Like any elite sportsperson, this means training is essential. Bespoke physical workouts strengthen neck, arms and core, and improve cardiovascular fitness and hand-eye coordination.
