VOTE TO TRANSFORM YOUR CITY IN HEINEKEN®'S #SHAPEYOURCITY CAMPAIGN

Cape Town has been rewarded with the opportunity to host a world-class city shaping experience, as voted for by fans of the world’s leading international premium beer, Heineken®

Heineken®’s global campaign to transform the cities of the world saw Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban competing to win an epic City Shaping experience. To bring this vision to life, Heineken® joined forces with “City Shaper” teams in each city.

From the start, Capetonians were showing their love for the Mother City. They took the lead by grabbing their limited-edition Heineken® bottles to vote for their hometown.

Now, courtesy of Heineken®, graffiti artist Mak1One and creative design agency ThingKing, residents will see the CBD’s well-known Namaqua Building in Albertus Street transformed on Saturday, 21 January. Through the clever use of light and urban artwork, an attention-grabbing installation will take shape.

Situated in one of the oldest precincts of the city, the Namaqua Building is a trendy setting that has undergone an urban rejuvenation. Transforming the building will contribute to this much-needed renewal.

“We cannot think of a better way to transform our city than through the universal language of art and design. We are looking forward to putting our unique stamp on this great event,” says design guru Marc Nicolsen from ThingKing.

Graffiti artist Mak1One adds, “Using my skills for Cape Town’s #SHAPEYOURCITY installation is exciting. Bringing our vision to life will give rise to a phenomenal event and make the city shine.”

Says Themba Ratsibe, Marketing Manager, Heineken® South Africa: “Our cities were neck and neck, but in the end, there could be only one winner. Well done, Cape Town! We are excited to bring Heineken®’s worldwide City Shaping campaign to the Mother City – see you on 21 January!”
