BEST IN CUSTOMISED BIKES SHOWCASED AT AFRICA’S PREMIERE ACTION SPORTS FESTIVAL WITH “BATTLE OF THE KINGS”
Limitless freedom will be on display with the best local and international extreme athletes showcased at Africa’s premiere action sports festival, Ultimate X 2016 presented by Dark Custom™. The popular action-packed experience, which will take place at Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on Saturday, 27 February, is the only multi-disciplined action sports indoor fest globally, with Harley-Davidson® as title sponsor for the first time.
In another first for South Africa, bikes of the “Battle of the Kings” contest will be displayed at Ultimate X 2016 presented by Dark Custom™.
Harley-Davidson® dealers from South Africa (11 authorised dealerships across the country) compete for this title of top custom bike builder (with “Battle of the Kings”) in a winner-takes-all contest based on customising one of the latest Harley models, the all-new Sportster® Iron 883™. Provided with a blank canvas, these dealerships are finalising their sketches, receiving parts and accessorising the bikes throughout February to express the Harley® brand of self-expression, performance and freedom.
Public online voting will take place in March and April 2016 via the dedicated website www.h-d.com/customkings, followed by a jury round to decide the national winner who will be crowned as top custom builder of the year. The SA winner will be announced after Africa Bike Week in May 2016.
Harley-Davidson® partnered with Ultimate X under the Dark Custom™ flag to bring the cream of the crop in action sports on the African continent. Aside from slick and mind blowing skills on show, it will be a kick ass experience for anyone who’s heart beats to the drum of freedom and personal expression.
This year, spectators at Ultimate X 2016 presented by Dark Custom™ will experience a variety of action sports, on Africa’s most impressive Skate / BMX Park: Freestyle MX, Skateboarding, Trials biking – all with the finest local and international competitors.
The one-day-only event (open the to public) of Ultimate X 2016 presented by Dark Custom™ will transform GrandArena into Africa’s only indoor, floodlit, pyrotechnical action sport showdown.

The adrenalin-junkie-satisfying event will kick off with an all disciplines intro at 18:00 on Saturday, 27 February, followed by the Skate Finals, FMX Show, BMX Finals, Skate Best Trick, BMX Best Trick, FMX Best Trick, prize giving and after party. As an all-day event of extreme action, qualifiers will be competing against each other from 11:00 on the day.
