I have many gadgets and devices to charge, and doing so can be a nightmare. While I have enough cables, I often lack USB ports to plug into, so I land up charging only a few devices at a time. Often charging takes a long time if a port is not rated the right charging speed. Well that is about to change … SABRENT sent me the VOLTIK Charging Station, a 252W, 8-port USB charging hub designed to charge all your devices and gadgets from one place at the right speed.
Let’s unbox the unit and also find out more about it. Removing the cardboard cover and opening the cardboard box, you are greeted by the unit wrapped in protective wrapping. Let’s take off the wrapping and set the unit to the side for now. Next up we remove some of the protective inserts and carboard to find the charging cable, wall mounting bracket, screws for the wall mount, warranty information, user manual and the safety and warning information.
Let’s go back to the VOLTIK Charging Station and take a closer look. On the front of the unit is a LCD display and 8 USB ports, each with their own name engraved below the ports. On the bottom of the unit is the charging port and the Kensington lock slot. The top of the unit has the air vents for the cooling fan.
The VOLTIK Charging Station delivers a massive 252 watts of total output. You get 4 USB-C ports with up to 100W each, perfect for devices like phones, tablets, laptops and more, plus 4 USB-A ports up to 18W, for other gadgets like lights, shavers, Bluetooth speakers and more. That means you can charge up to eight devices at the same time. You can plug in two USB-C devices and output up to 100W per port or 125W per pair of USB-C ports. You can plug in two USB-A devices and output up to 18W per port or 36W per pair of USB-A ports. The maximum combined output is 252W which is 126W on the USB-C side and 126W on the USB-A side.
The VOLTIK Charging Station is really easy to operate. Once the power cable is plugged in, you simply press and hold the only button on the unit to power on the unit. The LCD display turns on and the SABRENT logo is displayed. The summary screen is displayed which shows each port and its Wattage. You can then press the button again to cycle the display through the different ports. Pressing the button twice will flip the screen, this is useful if you need to mount the unit upside down.
The built-in colour active real-time LCD display shows exactly what’s happening on each port, including wattage, voltage, current, temperature and charging time. You can either view the summary screen which has all the ports and their wattage or cycle through each port at the touch of a button. It’s a simple way to see how much power each device is actually drawing as it charges. Each port has a name and this name is displayed on the display as well, so you can easily check the stats of a particular port.
Safety is also a big focus. The VOLTIK Charging Station is UL Certified, which means it meets strict safety standards. It also includes built-in protection against overcharging, overheating, overcurrent, and short circuits. The Active cooling fan with automatic temperature control keeps the charger cool. The input voltage range is 100–240V AC and 50/60Hz, so it is compatible in many countries around the world.
For mounting, there is a wall and desk mounting kit included so you can keep your desk tidy, as well as the ability to connect a cable to the Kensington lock slot so your charger does not get taken if it’s in a more public setting, like an office or a shop.
And for speed, it supports multiple fast-charging protocols like PD 3.0, PPS, QC 4.0, and QC 3.0, so compatible devices charge as quickly and efficiently as possible. It comes with a 1-year warranty without registration.
To test out the charging capabilities, I grabbed a bunch of devices I use at home to see how the station handles charging them. As I plugged in more devices, it was great to see that each device was still charging and also the stats of each charging device! I tested charging a Smartwatch, Xiaomi Tablet, Samsung Galaxy Buds3, Electric Shaver, Insta360 GO 3S, Bicycle Computer and Portable Fan. Each device was charging at the right speed at the same time, all in one location. How is that for efficiency! And let’s not forget that you are only taking up one electrical outlet.
