Groceries and electronics prove a hit with Black Friday shoppers

Massmart’s Game and Makro stores launched the first of their Black Friday deals last week, re-introducing the month-long promotion. The group reveals that South African shoppers responded positively, shopping in-store and online for deals on essentials and bigger ticket purchases.

Katherine Madley, Massmart’s VP of Marketing, explains that Game’s customers were most excited to save on milk, soft drinks, fridges and TVs. “Game customers look to us to give them the best pricing on household and pantry essentials, especially as they look toward the festive season and get ready for the new year.”

This week’s deals offer deep discounts on smartphones, TVs, small and large appliances, nappies and outdoor essentials. Madley explains these items have been carefully curated to meet the needs of Game’s customer base.

Meanwhile, Makro’s best-selling items last week included tea, TVs, fridges, airfryers and soft drinks.

“The Makro customer uses these types of deep discount deals to invest in improving their homes and outdoor spaces, and stocking up for the upcoming holiday season,” says Madley.

This week’s deals offer shoppers the opportunity to save on laptops, TVs, fridges, liquor and grocery essentials.

The Game and Makro Black Friday deals are available both in-store and online.
