A hyper-realist cake of the much-loved and iconic Nokia 3310 in red, has been unveiled today to celebrate HMD, the home of Nokia phones, fifth birthday.
HMD Global, is the Finnish company responsible for making Nokia phones including much loved icons like the Nokia 3310, and new durable smartphones including the Nokia XR20 which is built to survive everything life throws at it.
The life-size Nokia 3310 cake took 40 hours to make and was created by world renowned sugar artist Michelle Wibowo. The inside of the cake is made up of chocolate sponge and vanilla buttercream, and the famous durable Nokia 3310 case is made with a sugar shell casing. Each button has been cut and moulded to perfection and added to the case individually.
HMD Global re-released the Nokia 3310 with a modern twist in 2017 to the delight of Nokia fans around the world. The custom designed user interface brings a fresh look to a classic, and of course, it has everything you’d expect from a Nokia phone, from a long-lasting battery and a durable design to the legendary mobile phone game, Snake.
Florian Seiche, CEO of HMD Global said: “We are incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in the past five years. We set out to achieve one aim, to provide accessible connectivity for everyone. This continues to drive everything we do, and as we look to the next five years, we want to thank all of our customers and partners for their support and helping us reach each and every milestone to date.”
Michelle Wibowo added: “It was a pleasure to turn such an iconic phone into cake. It took lots of testing to get it perfect but I’m thrilled with the result.”
