The Annual Armchair Comedy Festival in association with Fruit of the Loom, will be taking place at the ObviouZly Armchair Theatre in Observatory and is set to attract some of South Africa’s top comedians. Running over 7 days, the festival will kick off from Sunday 3 December 2017 and end on Sunday 10 December 2017.

Comments Gino Fernandez, festival organizer and comedian: “We are doing something different to other festivals so that we can contribute to uplifting the comedy standards in Cape Town by providing an inexpensive platform for comedians to showcase their content, as well as getting a return for their efforts.”
A 45-minute show will run every hour from 8pm to 10pm, with extra shows on Saturday and Sunday.
Comedians confirmed for the festival include Stuart Taylor, Nik Rabinowitz, Dylan Skews, Schalk Bezuidenhout, Yaseen Barnes, Angel Campey, Robby Collins, Lindi Johnson and many more.
Along with Fruit of the Loom, the ObviouZly Armchair Theatre will be running a social media competition in search of Cape Town’s next rising star. The competition will run prior to the comedy festival and require entrants to post a short clip of themselves performing a short set. Gino Fernandez, together with Fruit of the Loom and the owners of the ObviouZly Armchair Theatre will select their top 20 and will allow social media to do the rest. The winner will have a chance to perform at the 5th Annual Armchair Comedy Festival alongside well-known comedy acts.
