There are so many laptops available these days which makes it really hard to choose one that is perfect for you. You might be thinking, what is the perfect laptop for me. I would say something that is fast so you can do what you want to do on it quickly as well as light so you don’t break your back while carrying it around.

Introducing the Superman of Laptops, the Acer Aspire S7. From its sleek body, strong build, high performance and amazing Full HD screen, the Acer Aspire S7 is one super cool ultrabook. It is used by Megan Fox. No comment needed.

Inside the Acer Aspire S7 you have an Intel Core i7 1.90 GHz processor which is Dual-core (2 Cores). At first when I saw 1.90 GHZ I thought it would be slow but the processor is an i7. So, it is actually a higher up processor and is really quick. To add to the snappy speed of the S7, there is 4GBs DDR3 SDRAM. If you would like to upgrade the ram, I have bad news for you. The maximum amount that the ultrabook can take is 4GB. Note that I found the 4GB of ram to be sufficient so this should not be a problem. Programs and apps load up and run really quickly.

The S7 has a 256 GB Solid State Drive (SSD). SSD drives are much faster and smaller than hard disk drives, the hard drives you normally find in computers. Since the S7 is an ultrabook and really thin, it makes sense to use an SSD drive as it is small. But, there are more benefits than just size. SSDs have no moving mechanical components whereas Disk Drives do. SSDs are typically less susceptible to physical shock, run more quietly, have lower access time, and less latency. The SSD in the S7 ensures that everything happens lightening fast.

With a 13.3″ Full HD LED display, you can’t go wrong. The resolution goes up to 1920 x 1080. Since the screen is only a 13.3”, this resolution is perfect and the picture quality is absolutely crystal clear. The Aspire S7 features Acer ComfyView technology, which reduces light reflection for more comfortable viewing under various commercial settings.  One of the coolest things about the S7’s screen is that it is touch screen. Not only is it touch screen, it also allows for multi touch! So you can use more than one finger at a time.

The S7 has a perfectly sized keyboard. I only use a desktop computer and I have become really used to my keyboard as I have had it for a long time. Whenever I use another keyboard I struggle to hit the right keys. I normally struggle more on laptops as the keyboards are even smaller. But, the keyboard on the S7 is well sized and I found it really easy to type on it. To make the keys easier to see in darker environments, the keyboard has auto illumination. Each key is illuminated to the perfect glow.

The Acer Aspire S7 comes in white Gorilla Glass or sleek aluminium. I had the white version to review. The lid is actually Gorilla Glass 2 and is rimmed with aluminium. Just like Macbooks that have an illuminated Apple logo, the Aspire S7’s lid has an illuminated Acer logo. I think this is a great feature and makes the lid look extra special. The rest of the body is white and silver. The underneath is plastic but there are feet so this won’t touch the surface. The Ultrabook is very thin and light and easy to carry around. The build quality is really good and that has a sturdy feel to it.

I have been using Windows 7 for a while now and I love it. The thought of changing to a new operating system is stressful. I have used Windows 8 on laptops and computers that don’t have a touch screen and it is not fun. Since the start menu in Windows 8 is meant for touch screens, using a mouse doesn’t cut it. Using Windows 8 on the Aspire S7 is a fun experience. The touch screen completes the whole experience that Windows 8 is meant to bring.

That being said, I do prefer the start menu on Windows 7. I wasn’t even sure how to get to “My computer” for example. I had to make a shortcut from the desktop. If you feel the same, Windows are bring out Windows 8.1 which will have the option to choose if you want the old or new start menu.

The S7 has two USB ports which are both USB 3.0, a Mini HDMI port and a memory card slot to easily access date of a memory card. You obviously get a built in camera and a microphone port as well. There is no Ethernet port on the S7 but there is a USB to Ethernet adapter supplied so this should not be a problem. You also get a micro HDMI to VGA adapter, along with a carrying case and mouse!

The Acer Aspire S7 has a 4 cell Lithium Polymer (Li-Polymer) 2340 mAh battery. I found that the battery lasts around 4 to 6 hours depending on usage. This is good for a laptop of high performance and you can always plug it in when you are near a plug. The back cover will need to be taken off to access the battery but it looks like it will take some time.

Overall, I am very happy with the S7. The build quality is really good and has a nice feel to it. It is light so it won’t hurt your back which is a plus if you carry your laptop on your back. The touch screen is crystal clear and the processor is fast. There is nothing not to like. If you are looking for a high end ultra book, I suggest you consider the Acer Aspire S7.
