The arrival of Renault’s fun and funky Captur Sunset LimitedEdition Dynamique spearheadsthe introduction of a 1.5 dCi 66kW Turbo Diesel engine option to the range.

“From the outset when first assembling the Captur range, it was always our plan to have a diesel derivative in the line-up and the introduction of the diesel-poweredRenault Captur1.5 litre dCi 66kW Turbo Dynamique model to the current petrol-only product line-up is in direct response to the growing demand for a diesel derivative in this segment,” says Jeff Allison, product manager at Renault SA.

“We believe that now’s the right time to introduce this derivative into a market that understands better than ever before, the importance of the longer-term savings that ultra-fuel efficient engines bring. And what better way to deliver this message than by introducing the bold and very beautiful Renault Captur Sunset Limited Edition Dynamique!”

The diesel-powered Dynamique is the perfect complement to its three petrol-powered siblings in the range: the Dynamique EDC featuring Renault’s new generation 1.2 litre 88kW EDC Turbo power plant, the Dynamique 66kW Turbo and Expression 66kW Turbo.

An easy-to-drive, multi-functional and -faceted crossover that strikes the ideal balance between design and practicality, Renault Captur’s popularity and performance has resulted in the vehicle consistently maintaining second place in South Africa’s popular and highly contested B-segment small utility vehicle (SUV) crossover category. RENAULT’S TOP-SELLING ENGINE

The 1.5dCi turbo diesel is Renault’s most-sold engine worldwide. It boasts significantly reduced fuel consumption and CO² emission levels of up to 35% and is also the power plant behind Renault’s very popular Duster 1.5dCi Dynamique SUV introduced to the SA market in September 2013.

The 1.5 dCi powering Renault Captur’s latest offering underscores these engineering skills and coupled with a manual 5-speed gearbox, this power plant affords unparalleled driving pleasure thanks to its extreme responsiveness in all conditions. Its turbo architecture has a specific and innovative design that simplifies air admission for a higher output.

The high-tech surface treatment of its engine components, Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating on pistons skirts for example, improves engine reliability, reduces friction and results in improved fuel efficiency.

1.5 dCi DELIVERS POWERFUL PERFORMANCE

The 1.5 dCi turbo diesel engine delivers maximum output of 66kW @ 4 000rpm and peak torque of 220Nm @ 1 750 r/min. At 3.6 litres/100km in the combined cycle, fuel efficiency is phenomenal while at 95gm/km, CO² emissions are eco-friendly. Renault Captur 1.5dCi drivers are able to travel greater distances secure in the knowledge that impact on the environment is greatly reduced.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK – DISTINCTIVE TRIM

Its trendy and distinctive colour customisation elements make the Captur Sunset instantly recognisable and set it apart from the pack. The outside paint scheme is Diamond Black and is accentuated by roof and mirrors plus stylish front, rear and side streamline trim in Sunset Orange.

Sunset Orange is used to striking effect on the inside of the Renault Captur Sunset Limited Edition serving to accentuate the vent, MediaNav console and door speaker surrounds and also parts of the steering wheel. Carbon black and the Sunset Orange zip collection seat covers provide the final complement to the customised interior.

TECHNOLOGY + CONNECTIVITY

Super-smart, like its siblings, the Captur Dynamique diesel derivative offers Bluetooth® connectivitywhich enables safe, convenient and hands-free telephony and music streaming from external devices when on the go. Renault’s MediaNav integrated on-board multimedia system with 7″ touchscreen is standard. Satellite navigation and radio plus USB port are included in the price tag with every feature easily accessed via fingertip controls conveniently located alongside the steering column.

ECO mode function is available at the push of a button and electronically modifies the engine’s response to automatically optimise fuel consumption (by up to -10%).

Hands-free key card, electric side mirrors and electric windows (front and rear) plus automatic climate control (with one touch, quick demist function plus air quality management system) are standard features while rear parking sensors with rear camera, automatic headlights and rain sensitive front wipers are standard across the diesel range. A tyre pressure sensor is standard on all Dynamique models.

Smart technology that crosses over into the safety arena is the cruise control + speed limiter. To ensure a more comfortable and safer drive on highways and open roads, the system electronically maintains a steady speed as set by the driver.

FIVE STAR EURO NCAP SAFETY RATING

Safety is synonymous with the Renault brand and all models in the Captur range have prestigious 5-Star Euro NCAP rating status.

The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) coupled with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) kicks in and automatically applies maximum brake pressure when an emergency braking situation is detected and is able to shorten braking distance by up to nine metres.

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) ensures vehicle stability and assists the driver to avoid possible loss of control resulting from excessive speed or slippery road conditions. It detects and reduces loss of traction, reduces engine power and brakes on independent wheels in the event of loss of control.

Hill Start Assist (HSA) is automatically activated (upon complete stop) as soon as an incline of at least 10% is detected. The system is engaged by stepping firmly on the brake and prevents any backward movement long enough for pull off without requiring the use of the handbrake. When stepping off the brake, the car will hold for approximately three seconds to allow pull off with no roll-back.

Standard passive safety features include high-efficiency front airbags, head/chest side bags, seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters (front seats), anti-submarining front seats, anti-whiplash head rests and force limiter function (rear side seats). Three ISOFIX 3-point child seat anchor seat attachments are fitted to the front passenger and rear side seats.

WARRANTY + SERVICE PLAN

Renault Captur crossover comes standard with a 5-year/150 000km mechanical warranty; a 3-year/45 000km service plan and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty. Services take place at 15 000km/1 year intervals.
